Trekking poles are a significant part of every hiker and adventurer gear. While you explore Slovenia at some point you will be using the hiking poles the use. As every experienced hiker would say never hit the road without hiking poles.
Knowing Slovenia and all the beautiful outdoors this country has to offer, therefore we recommend you to rent a pair of these.
The use of hiking poles will make the experience much easier-guaranteed! Apart from being a helpful thing to lean on, as well these have many more other benefits.
There are many different designed poles and we separate these by the terrain which is made for. Mostly in Slovenia by experienced the outdoors you will meet with diverse terrain and it all depends where are you headed. Renting the hiking poles in our office will surly come with good advice on poles if you share your plans with us.
Choosing the right trekking poles in short:
-firstly find the right length for you
-secondly know what features would you need to have on your trekking poles (adjustability, shock absorption, locking mechanism)
-and last but not least learn tricks on how to use the poles. Plenty of those is waiting for you in our office where you are always welcome to come around.
In the case of first-time users, walking with trekking poles can seem a bit clumsily. But after falling into the right rhythm these will go with you everywhere. And what is the rhythm? Putting the opposing hiking pole in time with the opposing foot. Basically, it goes like this right foot/left pole, left foot/right pole.
Sometimes especially when you will need to stabilize your step you need to double put the poles and take two steps forward. This is very useful for walking downhill or to climb a rock on the way up. By renting the trekking poles with us we will also demonstrate you the proper use of those

You can rent and return the equipment in our Altitude office on Ljubljanska cesta 1, 4260 Bled. Please ensure that the gear is picked up and returned during the office hours that are currently in effect. (Every day from 10 am to 6 pm)
We understand that many hikers prefer to start their day early, so we offer the option to pick up your gear from our office one afternoon before your booking (until 6 p.m.) at no extra cost.
If you won’t manage to return it during office hours please let us know by e-mail.
*Note that in the summer season, it is good to make a pre-booking for the trekking poles since these are the months with the highest demand.
